These last few days

It started with a rockslide. A huge one that wiped out the highway and train tracks to Squamish.

Emily and I took a small boat to Squamish instead (that was running due to the slide) as my sister was visiting from Calgary. These local seals (above) could not have looked any less impressed to see us... The birds below are baby seagulls on a rusty buoy.

The next day we took my nephews to Shannon Falls. This is the rock wall of the public toilet...

A face to light up anyone's day.

The falls.

The brothers.

The photo that makes me worry Clark is doomed to be as uncool as I was in school. Half hip hop... half nixon...

Next we ended up in Langley. Here is the lucky guy. A three year old stallion that has been hired to knock up Em's mom's horse Claire.

Here's Claire making her "not today buddy" face. Em and her family can discern a horses mood, wants and needs just by the sight of them. I can't see any of that but I can see she is a bossy little cow of a horse. She doesn't take anything from anyone if she doesn't want to. She had come out of heat so another lover (victim) was selected.

Little Blackie got the call. She didn't move much... in fact she looked half asleep the whole time. This picture was an odd sight. This is Blackie's owner trying to help the young station get it in the right spot. Just after this picture was taken he slapped the stallion on the ass (beer in hand) and it went wild and ran around the ring. It was like watching a David Lynch film.

He got it right on the next try... and then it was even more like watching a david lynch film. Familiar yet disturbing. He stayed on top of her for a long time afterward and nuzzled her as if to say "thanks baby" and had to be shoved off of her by Blackie's owner (still with beer in hand).

Other horses...

Sunflowers at the barn.
